Bucket List Review

What’s the use of having a bucket list if you don’t revisit it to see if you can actually scratch some items off that you've completed?  Well, that’s what I’m doing today.  I’m reviewing the 3 bucket lists I created over the past year to see how much I was able to accomplish.

Host a wine party
Host a prepackaged food party
Carve or decorate a pumpkin
Go to a fall festival
Make chili and taco soup
Attend a Halloween party
Attend my college homecoming game
Attend the Charleston Mac-Off
Thanksgiving with my family

Looks like I did a pretty good job with my Fall list from last year.  7 out of 11 events checked off that list.  Let’s see how well I did with the Spring list.

Get up and get going
Begin yoga classes
Fly a kite
Go to a local farmer’s market
Take a walk on the beach
Practice more R.A.K

I’m really proud of myself for basically completing this one.  By the time I wrote this, many kites had been sold.  When I went out to purchase one, I couldn’t find any that I liked.  There were several kid designed ones around and then there were some that just didn’t suit me.  Next year for sure, I’ll be able to check this one off my list.  J
Leaving the festival I realized I still had tickets so I handed them to a family just arriving.  That was my random act of kindness or R.A.K.

And lastly, My Summer Bucket List, now this one was put together with the least amount of thought…well somewhat.

Take a weekend getaway
Try a new restaurant
Start an herb garden
Begin my weight loss journey
Began, but not as successful as I would like
Go to an amusement park
Go to a concert Reggae at the Music Farm
Make my own popsicles  Well I bought the containers :)
Go bike riding
Picnic in the park… Reggae in the park counts, right?  We bought food while we were there.
Watch fireworks
Take a dip in the ocean...Well that was a no brainer
Go for an evening walk through the neighborhood...Man it was too hot.
Read a book…I’m still disappointed with myself
Try a new summery nail color   I tried several
I still haven't started yoga, so...
Well actually, I did.  I attended a class right after writing the Spring Bucket List post (see above), and then I went to a class held at my job for health and wellness week.

I’m a very random person and I can be very spontaneous. So, at times I actually plan events, but many were mostly spare of the moment.  I’m glad to see that most of the items on my bucket lists were accomplish and I will try to complete the other items in the near future.

How are you doing with your bucket list(s)?  Were you able to complete the items you listed?

My Spring Bucket List

Spring is upon us and the weather is...well... it’s kinda bipolar! (crazy face) Nevertheless, my favorite season is here!  I love spring for its freshness and renewal.  The birds are chirping, children are out playing, and flowers are blooming.  Speaking of flowers...the only thing I don't like about spring is the POLLEN!!!  Now, I understand that the pollination is necessary for the fertilization of seeds to create more flower-bearing plants, but man its heavy.  My car has changed colors about 3 times in the last 2 weeks.  :)  My allergies have been at bay since I've began a good allergy treatment regimen.  For the most part, the weather has been Beautiful and I can't wait to get out and frolic in it.

This is what led me to writing this post.  I have so much I would like to do and decided to share it with you.  This spring, I pledge to get out more after being cooped up all winter due to the cold weather.  Some of the things I'd like to achieve are below.

1) Get up and get going.  I have to make a pact with myself to get up and get moving on Saturday mornings. I have a tendency to lag around doing aimless things when I need to be getting out of the house and enjoying the sunshine.

I can't believe I'm actually sharing this pic.

2) Attend 2nd Sunday on King. This event has taking place for at least 5 years now in Charleston. In the past, I would simply forget it was occurring until late afternoon when it was no longer worthwhile for me to go.  Other times, I would be out of town or have other things planned where I couldn't attend.  I'm making it my duty to attend this upcoming one in April or May. It is a time of food, laughter, and fun.  The historic shopping district is shut down from traffic to allow people to participate in an afternoon of festivities.  Restaurants bring their tables to the street, vendors are set up selling various items, and a good time is had by all...at least that's what I've been told.  For more information about what takes place, check out this YouTube video.

3) Begin yoga classes.  I was invited, by some coworkers, to attend a yoga class this weekend and I have decided to attend.  I'm a little nervous because this is something new for me, but excited just the same.  Plus I have to super, cool yoga mat to try out!  Pray for me.  I'm hoping the instructor will have a routine for beginners.

4) Fly a kite.  I can't remember the last time I flew a kite.  Now that my kids are "grown" years have passed since I've enjoyed this fun activity.  Well, by golly I'm gonna get out there and fly me a kite this year.  It's an activity I used to love and I'm always fascinated by the various kites that are displayed each year.

5) Go to a local Farmer's Market.  Why haven't I done this yet?  Nobody knows.

6) Take a walk on the beach.  Is this really a bucket list item?  No, not really...I go each year.  How can I not when there are several surrounding me?  Have you visited the beaches of Charleston, SC?  If you haven't, you should.  You would be pleasantly surprised.  Hey, maybe I'll fly that kite at the beach!

7) Practice more R.A.K.  While I'm out frolicking around town, I will continue my resolution of spreading more happiness by practicing more random acts of kindness.  While I'm downtown, I'll add a few coins to meters that are about to become expired.  Maybe I'll pay for someone else's lunch.  The possibilities to be kind are endless. You should give it a try.

8)  Attend Flowertown Festival.  This is another event I haven't been to since my boys were younger.  Its going on this weekend so I guess I need to get there tomorrow before it ends.

What are you up to this spring? Do u have a bucket list of activities you wish to fulfill?  Tell me about them.

Fall Bucket List

Being new to blogging has proven to be a challenge to me.  Thoughts are constantly popping  into my head, but I'm beginning to over analyze myself.  Today, the SITS Girls posted a challenge to inspire us to blog.  How can I not accept it?  With my current  lack of focus, this can only help me along my way.

Back to Blogging Challenge Day 1:  Fall Bucket List

If you have ever lived in Charleston,  you would know how unpredictable  our weather can be.  The last couple of weeks, it seemed as if I were living in Seattle with all the rain we've had.   With today being the first day of Fall, I was really surprised by the chill in the air.  Yes, it was another rainy day, but the late afternoon chill really made it feel like Fall .  I actually went and purchased some chili from Ladles and anyone who knows me knows that I do not eat soup or chili until the weather starts to cool.  I even received a text from a friend this evening that simple stated, " Is it cool enough for soup? " :-)

I'm not a major fan of Fall because I love to wear capris and sandals.  Now, it looks like my toes will have to go into seclusion for awhile.  Not too long I'm sure; remember I live in Charleston.

So let's see...what would I include on my list? Things I like as well as new things to discover.

Host a wine party
Host a prepackaged food party
Carve or decorate a pumpkin
Go to a fall festival
Make chili and taco soup
Attend a Halloween party
Attend my college homecoming game
Attend the Charleston Mac-Off
Thanksgiving with my family

Well that's my list, what's yours?
