10 Things I'm Thankful For

This summer, I joined an "event" on Facebook know as The Happiness Journal.  It was a 2-month journey into happiness.  We were asked to post daily about 3 things that brought happiness into our lives.  In July, the journal became a challenge.  We were now asked to complete a specific task (posted by the page administrator) that could bring happiness to ourselves and others. Posting daily kept my mind abreast to all the good things going on in my life.  Little things like the rain so I wouldn't have to manually water the grass to events with my family.  I really enjoyed participating in this and just recently visited the page again because I kinda fell off track with school beginning again.

Today, I was inspired to start back on my journey by The SITS girls with Day 4 of their Back to Blogging Challenge.  Today's challenge is to list Ten Things You Are Thankful For.  I'm sure I can come up with more than ten, but will group things together to avoid an excessively long post.

I’m thankful that I have God as the head of my life.
I’m thankful for my family.
I’m thankful for my friends.
I’m thankful for my wonderful life.  Although it is not perfect, I make the most of it and enjoy it.
I’m thankful that I have a career that I enjoy.
I’m thankful that I am able to make a difference in the lives of children.
I’m thankful that I am able to pay my bills.
I’m thankful for the rain that falls refreshing everything around us.
I’m thankful for the sun that shines every morning radiating energy and life upon everything it touches.
I’m thankful for chocolate and wine.  J

Now you give it a try and take time to spread happiness!

Fall Bucket List

Being new to blogging has proven to be a challenge to me.  Thoughts are constantly popping  into my head, but I'm beginning to over analyze myself.  Today, the SITS Girls posted a challenge to inspire us to blog.  How can I not accept it?  With my current  lack of focus, this can only help me along my way.

Back to Blogging Challenge Day 1:  Fall Bucket List

If you have ever lived in Charleston,  you would know how unpredictable  our weather can be.  The last couple of weeks, it seemed as if I were living in Seattle with all the rain we've had.   With today being the first day of Fall, I was really surprised by the chill in the air.  Yes, it was another rainy day, but the late afternoon chill really made it feel like Fall .  I actually went and purchased some chili from Ladles and anyone who knows me knows that I do not eat soup or chili until the weather starts to cool.  I even received a text from a friend this evening that simple stated, " Is it cool enough for soup? " :-)

I'm not a major fan of Fall because I love to wear capris and sandals.  Now, it looks like my toes will have to go into seclusion for awhile.  Not too long I'm sure; remember I live in Charleston.

So let's see...what would I include on my list? Things I like as well as new things to discover.

Host a wine party
Host a prepackaged food party
Carve or decorate a pumpkin
Go to a fall festival
Make chili and taco soup
Attend a Halloween party
Attend my college homecoming game
Attend the Charleston Mac-Off
Thanksgiving with my family

Well that's my list, what's yours?

Make time for family

My weekday schedule is a busy one.  I get up, go to work, come home to eat and sleep and start all over again.  This may sound familiar to many of you.  With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we sometimes get too busy to enjoy time with those that mean the most to us.  I have children, but they are away at their respective universities.  On many occasions, they come home, but generally not at the same time.  This weekend they both came home and we had great fun spending time together.

We spent Saturday evening attending a family friend's 50th birthday celebration.  As we drove across the bridge to reach our destination, we were greeted by the beautiful scenery that only the great one above can proved.  To the left of the bridge, we were able to see the beginning and the ending of a beautiful rainbow.  The angle at which we were travelling made it impossible for us to capture a picture, but it was spectacular.  To the right of the bridge, we were able to witness the most captivating, and serene sunset over the ocean.  It was so beautiful.  The evening sky painted an enticing picture for our travels.

After a night of celebrating, we spent most of Sunday morning resting and relaxing.  We had family stay over with us from Charlotte because they had a "very important" event to attend early Sunday morning.  (More details in a future post) We later met up with them for lunch in the downtown area.   The weather was perfect.  Sunny skies, a light breeze, and temperatures at that time in the high 70s.  Not the usual, scorching weather we are accustomed to here in Charleston.

We dined at a local Mediterranean cafe and enjoyed the atmosphere and conversation.  After biding farewell to our cousins, we went to visit one of the boys best friends who is like a son to me.  An hour later, it was time for my sons to hit the road and return to their "new" homes.   It was great spending family time together and it's something that I truly value.  Until the next time.  ;)
